Disaster Response
When a major disaster falls upon U.S. citizens, Nourish America is quick to respond by providing nutrient support to those who are traumatized by fear and loss. After Hurricane Katrina, Nourish America provided nutritional support to tens of thousands of children and their parents through the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, New Orleans Health Department and through its own distribution network throughout the Gulf States.
Last year Nourish America supplied nutritional support to hundreds of thousands of evacuees, disaster victims as well as emergency workers at disasters such as Hurricane Ike, California Wildfire Crisis, Midwest Flooding Crisis. Thanks to our donors we were able to provide over four million dollars of nourishing foods and supplements such as protein bars, energy drinks, multi-vitamins. As climate changes continues to create natural disasters from coast to coast, Nourish America will continue to respond quickly to help those in need.
“When the life of an entire region is turned upside-down with a storm the size of the state of Texas, people emerge who really come to the rescue,” said State Representative Debbie Riddle. “My constituents and I cannot adequately put into words the depth of gratitude that we feel for the people from Nourish America and its donors who have hearts bigger than the hurricane and who have been so generous providing water and nutrition when we needed them most. They were absolutely precious to so many.”
